Congratulations on your new tattoo! Quality is truly our commitment, and to ensure your new tattoo heals optimally, please follow these 10 easy steps:
Leave your dressing or bandage on for about 2 hours. During this time, you may notice some blood product, ink seepage, ink smudging, and sweat buildup—all of which are to be expected.Do not leave the bandage on for more than 4-5 hours.
Prepare for the first bandage removal. Before removing your dressing, gather the following items:Aftercare ointmentNon-stick dressing or plastic wrapHypoallergenic paper tapePlace these items in a clean area and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.
Carefully remove the dressing or bandage. Avoid any abrasion to the tattoo site during removal.Discard the used bandage, noting that it is now contaminated with blood product.
Wash the tattooed area thoroughly. Use warm water and fragrance-free soap.A "slimy" substance may be present; this is a combination of blood product, sweat, seeped ink, and protein deposits from the healing process.
Dry the tattooed area. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.Allow the area to air dry for 30-60 minutes.
Apply a thin layer of ointment. Use Tattoo Goo, fragrance-free lotion, or Aquaphor to minimally moisten the entire area.Ensure this is done with clean hands.Do not over-apply ointment, as excess can clog pores and hinder the skin's repair process, potentially resulting in scarring or damage to the ink.
Protect the tattooed area for the first 72 hours. Apply a non-stick bandage or plastic wrap. This provides a barrier from clothing and helps contain bio-materials essential for healing.
Maintain cleanliness. Keep the tattoo area clean with fragrance-free soap and warm water.Avoid touching the area with unwashed hands.
Continue this process for a total of 14 days.
Avoid certain activities during the healing period.Do not sunbathe or immerse your tattoo in water (e.g., swimming, jacuzzi use, bubble baths) during these 14 days. The myth that ocean water heals tattoos faster is false; such exposure poses a significant risk of infection and can damage your tattoo.Remember, your ink is now part of your skin, and keeping your skin healthy ensures your ink remains vibrant. After the two-week healing process, it's recommended to use daily lotion and sunscreen when exposed to the sun.
